Japanese aircraft cabin interiors specialist JAMCO is significantly expanding its presence in India, unveiling plans to invest up to $150 million in the country and establishing a new Product Engineering Centre in Bengaluru. The company, a major supplier of aircraft interiors and cabin equipment to global airlines and aircraft manufacturers, said the move reflects growing confidence in India’s aerospace ecosystem and its emergence as a key hub for aviation engineering and manufacturing.

The newly launched Bengaluru facility will focus on product engineering, design and development activities, supporting JAMCO’s global operations. The company also plans to increase its workforce in India six-fold over the coming years as it expands capabilities in engineering, certification and aerospace design services. JAMCO executives said India offers a strong pool of engineering talent and is well positioned to play a larger role in the global aerospace supply chain.

In addition to its Bengaluru operations, JAMCO is evaluating Pune as a potential global aerospace design hub and is exploring opportunities to deepen collaboration with Indian aerospace companies and institutions. The investment comes at a time when India’s aviation sector is witnessing rapid growth, driven by large aircraft orders, expanding airline fleets and increasing demand for maintenance, engineering and manufacturing services. Industry observers say JAMCO’s expansion underscores India’s growing importance as a destination for high-value aerospace engineering and technology development.
