DoNER Minister moved for reviving Assam Flying Club

Guwahati: The College of Aeronautical Engineering held a meeting with the DoNER Minister, General (Retd) VK Singh on Tuesday.

Air Marshal PK Barbora, former Vice Chief of Indian Air Force, Kanu Gohain, former DG of DGCA and Bikrom Singha Lahkar, of the College of Aeronautical Engineering and honorary secretary of the Assam Flying Club were also present at the meeting.
During the meeting, the DoNER Minister was requested to facilitate the operation of the Assam Flying Club by sanctioning three aircraft for training of pilots, since the revival of the Assam Flying Club was critical to producing quality pilots for the aviation industry.
A proposal was made to the DoNER Minister that a dedicated airlines should be formed under the Ministry of DoNER which would be working only within the North-East.
“Thus all the small airports and airstrips have to be developed. All airlines should have maintenance base in the North-East so that big industries like Tata, Reliance, etc., can set their base in the region and thereby help the industrialization process of the entire North-East.
