One million new pilots, technicians needed in 10 yrs: Boeing

Washington: Boeing has projected a demand of one million new pilots and technicians to support the expanding demand for new airplane deliveries over the next two decades.

According to the “2013 Pilot and Technician Outlook” released by Boeing, by 2032 the world will require 498,000 new commercial airline pilots and 556,000 new commercial airline maintenance technicians.
Of this maximum numbers of 192,300 pilots and 215,300 technicians are likely to be required in the Asia Pacific region.
The country specific figures would be released by Boeing on September 16 in Singapore.
“The urgent demand for competent aviation personnel is a global issue that is here now and is very real,” said Sherry Carbary, vice president of Boeing Flight Services yesterday.

  1. Sir im planning to go for cpl training in next month but im In a bit of dilema weather to go or not as per the recession in aviation industry … and I am form India so what would u suggest?

  2. I am looking for a job in aviation-technical sector.
I am M.Tech form Electronics & Comm. Engineering.
what should i do to get a job ?

  3. Mr.Sandeep and Mr.Lokesh.

My sincere advise for Sandeep, don’t take up flying now. The Indian aviation industry is in crisis big time. If you can afford to go to the European countries and still can afford a type rating certificate on a multi jet engine a/c, you will have a better chance of survival. May be after getting some experience of 3-4 years. Drop the plan if you are in India. Do something for the time being, take up flying later. Trust me I’m working in an electronic store with CPL from JAA and jet engine endorsement.

For Lokesh, there are many small aircraft manufacturers in india. For example there is an aircraft manufacturing company in Bangalore called ‘Rajahamsa’ start working here and earn some good experiences. That will be the better way. they manufacture sport planes and export them to the U.S.A. After earning experiences a good company will not afford to loose you. America will be a better place to work for you in 6 years from now if you take this path.
