GCP officials fear DGCA transfer may delay Academy

Pune: With the transfer of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) E K Bharat Bhushan, the construction of Pawan Hans Helicopter Training Institute (PHTI) might get further delayed, said a Pawan Hans Helicopter Limited (PHHL) official. The project for training helicopter pilots and establishing a heliport at Gliding Centre Pune, Hadapsar (GCP), expected to function by March 31, will now be ready by year-end, said PHHL officials.

However, with the joining of new DGCA, GCP fraternity hopes that its unfulfilled demands during Bhushan’s tenure will now be fulfilled.
Bhushan’s transfer is being seen as the second jolt for the project after the transfer of R K Tyagi from the post of PHHL CMD to Hindustan Aeronautic Limited chief in September last year.
