Air India to hire 100 new pilots

New Delhi: Air India is going to induct about 100 new pilots in the next few months, Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh said on Wednesday while virtually shutting the doors for striking pilots, asking those sacked to apply afresh.
Indicating that the 101 sacked pilots could be replaced by new ones, Singh said 90 pilots were currently undergoing training and would be available for flying in August.
“We’re making sure we have enough resources – pilots and engineers to operate the new flights we have planned,” he said in reply to a spate of questions on the month-long pilots’ agitation spearheaded by the Indian Pilots Guild (IPG).
The striking pilots questioned the Government’s plan. “We have serious doubts about ministry’s move (to hire pilots). Whom do they want to benefit? At a time when the company is under severe financial crunch, can these new pilots be afforded at a salary which is double of ours?” Captain Anil Kumar Rao, Joint Secretary of IPG, told reporters after pilots staged silent marches in Delhi and Mumbai.

  1. Who said new pilots will definitely have double salary than the current lot?!
There pilots like us waiting to work for half the salary than the current lot of pilots for the next 5 years and sign a bond for the same.
I m ready to get trained and also ready to work for half the salary than the current lot of agitating pilots.

  2. i am ready to do pilot training.u give training for me i will do best and i will work under u

  3. will a pilot from IAF who is 42 years of age with more than 10000 hours of experience and ATPL will be taken by air india.

  4. Wether AI can be rescued financially or not, wether the pilots have a real plan for their future or not, wether Mallaya is capable of making KFA stable
Or not…….no matter what the outcome to the current situations like these in the Indian Skies. What matters is the current Infrastructure, rules, policies and procedures need a drastic and complete changeover. Failing which the results can and would be more disasterous in the future, not only for pilots but for every one in the industry. The foreign investor policy should be implemented as proposed.

When India can contribute USD 10 billion to Europe, defnitly it can do a lot more for AI and other essentially required changes in the Indian Skies. WE NEED A REAL STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM FROM ALL POLITICAL ASPECTS AND MORE OVER NOT ONLY FOR THE AVATION SECTOR BUT EVERYTHING ELSE.
