South African SRS Aviation eyes operations in India

Mumbai: South Africa-based chartered flight operator and aircraft spare parts supplier SRS Aviation is looking at launching operations in India, a senior company official has said.

“Initially, we are looking at opportunities in aviation training. We are in exploratory talks with potential partners in Mumbai and Chennai. We are also interested in setting up an office here with a local partner,” SRS Aviation Managing Director Sibongile Sambo told reporters here.
She was here as part of the trade delegation that visited the city over the weekend.
SRS undertakes air charter services, helicopter operations, sales of ground-handling equipment and aircraft spare parts as well as software for airlines scheduling and management.
“I see huge potential here. The Chennai airport is being expanded and we can supply them ground handling equipment. We have had enquiries from a Mumbai-based engineering survey company interested in using helicopters to check electricity transmission lines. We also have had enquiries from a local software company that wishes to undertake software development with us,” Sambo said.
