Maldives opens first flying school

Male: Asian Academy of Aeronautics (AAA) opened Maldives’ first flying school at Seenu atoll Gan Monday.
“.. foreign students will also be trained at this school along with local students. As far as I know, around 60 Indian students have already applied for the courses,” Defence Minister Amin Faisal said.
The Sri Lanka based AAA, however, did not reveal the total number of applicants.
According to the company, the school offers flight training from the basic ab-initio to Private Pilot (PPL) and to advanced Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) standards.
The flight and ground training is conducted in accordance with ICAO and JAA-FCL compliant standards as required by the Civil Aviation Department.
Course fees range from US$7,400 (Rf95,090) to US$32,710 (Rf420,353.5). The government demanded a 10 percent discount to local students, AAA said.
