Airports Authority facing staff crunch:Aviation Min

New Delhi: The government today said there is a shortage of personnel in the Airports Authority of India’s communication, navigation and surveillance (CNS) department.
“The sanctioned strength of CNS discipline in AAI is 3,249 and against this, 1,849 personnel are in position,” Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel told the Lok Sabha in a written reply.
However, he said that suitable measures like deployment of personnel for permissible extra duties have been taken to meet the shortfall in manpower for day-to-day functioning. The minister said between 2007 and 2010, AAI had filled 1,391 vacant posts through direct recruitment and departmental promotion.
