Trainee pilots from Rae Bareli being shifted to Gondia

Gondia : Inclement weather in north India has forced the authorities at Rae Bareli’s Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Academy (IGRUA) to shift part of its pilot training activity to the upcoming Birsi academy here for three months.
‘Twelve trainees of IGRUA will arrive here Friday while eight more, including three girls, will land the next day to continue their training till February end at the under-construction academy,’ Birsi academy’s manager Jagtar Singh told IANS Tuesday.
While the academy, to be run jointly by Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Canadian Aerospace Engineering Inc (CAE) is expected to take another year to complete, the recently renovated air traffic control (ATC) building and the airstrip are enough to conduct training, Singh added.
Nearly 60 percent work of the proposed academy is over and construction of the main building will begin soon, Singh said adding that land is being acquired for expansion of the Birsi airport and creating facilities like trainees’ hostel and housing for the staff.
