{"id":81,"date":"2007-02-26T09:15:00","date_gmt":"2007-02-26T09:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indianaviationnews.net\/avicareers\/?p=81"},"modified":"2007-02-26T09:15:00","modified_gmt":"2007-02-26T09:15:00","slug":"student-pilots-from-india-set-a-course-for-montgomery-field","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/2007\/02\/student-pilots-from-india-set-a-course-for-montgomery-field.html","title":{"rendered":"Student Pilots From India Set a Course for Montgomery Field"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: rgb(255, 0, 0);font-size:180%;\" >A<\/span>n explosive demand for more aircraft and pilots to fly them in India led to a big coup for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sdfti.com\/\">San Diego Flight Training International <\/a>at Montgomery Field.<br \/>The school has signed a contract with an Indian firm to train at least 100 students, most of whom will be hired by regional airlines in that fast-developing nation.<br \/>The deal Phil Thalheimer, owner of the school, struck with Apace Consultants of Bombay was months in the making.<br \/>Thalheimer\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s school isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t the only one benefiting from an increase in overall international airline traffic.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scanavia.com\/\">SAA Flight Training<\/a> in El Cajon    is also enjoying an up tick in students from India.<br \/>Pernilla McMahon, marketing manager for SAA said at her school she expects it will train about 100 Indian students, or about half the year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s total.<br \/>While there are about 20 flight training schools in the area, only a handful are authorized to accept foreign students. One aspect of accepting foreign students is the necessity of obtaining a visa, usually an M-1 visa, which requires in-depth background checks conducted by the Transportation Security Administration.
