{"id":577,"date":"2008-03-06T09:33:00","date_gmt":"2008-03-06T09:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indianaviationnews.net\/avicareers\/?p=577"},"modified":"2008-03-06T09:33:00","modified_gmt":"2008-03-06T09:33:00","slug":"dgca-insists-english-proficiency-of-icao-standards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/2008\/03\/dgca-insists-english-proficiency-of-icao-standards.html","title":{"rendered":"DGCA insists English proficiency of ICAO standards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: rgb(255, 0, 0);font-size:180%;\" >I<\/span>n<a href=\"http:\/\/dgca.nic.in\/aic\/aic03_08.pdf\"> an order<\/a> signed on March 04, 2008, DGCA has made it compulsory for all aircraft personnel to acquire English language proficiency as per the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icao.int\/icao\/en\/trivia\/peltrgFAQ.htm\">ICAO stipulations<\/a>.<br \/>The aircraft personnel include the holders of pilot\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s licence, flight engineer\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s licence, flight navigator\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s licence (except student pilot\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s licence and pilot\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s licence for gliders, balloons and<br \/>microlight aircraft), air traffic controllers and aeronautical station operators.<br \/>The order says the aircraft personnel shall have their English language proficiency evaluated to the ICAO language proficiency standards within a period of three years from 5th March, 2008.<br \/>All the existing aircraft personnel (holders of pilot\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s licence, flight engineer\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s licence, flight navigator\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s licence, air traffic controllers and aeronautical station operators), as on 5th March, 2008, shall be deemed to have the ability to speak and understand English language to the required ICAO language <a href=\"http:\/\/www.caa.co.uk\/docs\/1688\/ICAO%20Language%20Proficiency%20for%20Flight%20Crew.pdf\">proficiency Level 4<\/a> (operational).<br \/> The licences granted after 5th March, 2008 shall be considered to have the required ICAO language proficiency Level 4 (operational) till such time that the licences are issued on the basis of an evaluation conducted for assessing the applicant\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s language proficiency.
