{"id":448,"date":"2007-12-14T19:56:00","date_gmt":"2007-12-14T19:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indianaviationnews.net\/avicareers\/?p=448"},"modified":"2007-12-14T19:56:00","modified_gmt":"2007-12-14T19:56:00","slug":"us-senate-passes-age-65-legislation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/2007\/12\/us-senate-passes-age-65-legislation.html","title":{"rendered":"US Senate Passes Age 65 Legislation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: rgb(255, 0, 0);font-size:180%;\" >O<\/span>ne day after the House of Representatives unanimously approved a measure increasing the mandatory retirement age for US commercial pilots to 65, the Senate voted its approval for the legislation as well, sending the bill to the president&#8217;s desk.<br \/>As ANN reported, Minnesota Congressman James Oberstar &#8212; sponsor of the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/frwebgate.access.gpo.gov\/cgi-bin\/getdoc.cgi?dbname=110_cong_bills&amp;docid=f:h4343eh.txt.pdf\">Fair Treatment for Experienced Pilots Act<\/a>&#8221; &#8212; pulled the measure from the broader FAA Reauthorization Act, which Congress passed in September, when it became clear the Senate wasn&#8217;t going to act on its version of FAA reauthorization before the end of the year.<br \/>If signed into law by President Bush, the legislation will update a 1960 FAA ruling forcing pilots from the cockpit at age 60.
