{"id":279,"date":"2007-09-11T08:29:00","date_gmt":"2007-09-11T08:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indianaviationnews.net\/avicareers\/?p=279"},"modified":"2007-09-11T08:29:00","modified_gmt":"2007-09-11T08:29:00","slug":"airlines-back-dgca-in-dispute-with-engineers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/2007\/09\/airlines-back-dgca-in-dispute-with-engineers.html","title":{"rendered":"Airlines back DGCA in dispute with engineers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: rgb(153, 0, 0);\">New Delhi<\/span>: Airlines now want to bat for the regulator \u00e2\u20ac\u201d Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) \u00e2\u20ac\u201d whose decision to <a href=\"https:\/\/indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/2007\/01\/pilots-to-fly-into-engineers-zone.html\">allow pilots to undertake transit checks<\/a> of aircraft has been challenged in court by the Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME) associations.<br \/>In a <a href=\"http:\/\/avindia.blogspot.com\/2007\/05\/court-seeks-explanation-from-dgca-on.html\">petition filed<\/a> in the Delhi High Court,  airlines, under the aegis of Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA), the industry body representing full-service and budget carriers, has strongly supported DGCA\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s move which allows approved pilots to undertake transit inspection of an aircraft.<br \/>DGCA sources said that FIA has now sought to be a party to the ongoing legal tussle in the Delhi High Court between the regulator and the associations representing aircraft maintenance engineers.<br \/>In January this year, DGCA amended the Airworthiness Rules to enable a pilot to do transit inspection on an aircraft, and issue \u00e2\u20ac\u0153certificate of release\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in stations where maintenance engineers where not present.
