New Delhi: Mumbai\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s historic Bombay Flying Club \u00e2\u20ac\u201d from where the father of Indian aviation J R D Tata received India\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s first pilot licence in February 1929 \u00e2\u20ac\u201d has become the country\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s first DGCA-approved drone training school. Located in Juhu Aerodrome, the Club had about two months back sought the regulator\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s approval for conducting pilot training using remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) systems. The aviation ministry and DGCA have given a conditional approval for the same.<\/p>\n
The conditions include getting all required security clearances from various agencies like home and defence ministries, local authorities and Airports Authority of India. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Bombay Flying Club shall ensure that hazardous material are not carried in the RPA under any circumstances\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 (Drone) shall not be operated near the airport\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6. Club shall ensure safety, security and privacy public,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the conditions state.<\/p>\n
The 1928-founded Bombay Flying Club has played a critical role in evolution of Indian aviation. J R D Tata was the first to obtain a pilot licence from here in February 1929. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153The Bombay Flying Club has unique distinction of being the only flying club in the world, which under took the cross-country international flight from Bombay to London and back with four tiger Moths participating in it, in 1930s,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d the Club\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s website says.
