Prior to 2018, there were no female aviation firefighters. Taniya Sanyal became the first in India and paved way for many others.<br \/>\nAccording to Business Standard, on women\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s day 2019, Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru announced its induction of 14 women in their Aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) squad.<br \/>\nThe Times of India reports that these women were recruited from all over Karnataka and underwent basic training at Bengaluru Airport followed by four-month extensive training at Airports Authority of India\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Fire Service Training Centre in Kolkata.<br \/>\nThe Indian Express reports that this all-women team is the largest of its kind in Asia.
