{"id":188,"date":"2007-07-09T09:18:00","date_gmt":"2007-07-09T09:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indianaviationnews.net\/avicareers\/?p=188"},"modified":"2007-07-09T09:18:00","modified_gmt":"2007-07-09T09:18:00","slug":"2-flight-school-planes-collide-3-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/2007\/07\/2-flight-school-planes-collide-3-dead.html","title":{"rendered":"2 flight school planes collide; 3 dead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: rgb(153, 0, 0);\">Malolos, Bulacan, Philippines<\/span>: Two light airplanes used in pilot training crashed into a rice field, killing three people in Barangay Ligas here yesterday noon.<br \/>Initial reports said the two Cessna planes plunged into the rice field after their wings grazed each other.<br \/>Three people, including a female Indian student pilot, were instantly killed in the incident.<br \/>Police identified the fatalities as Patrick Phillip Teruel, a flight instructor of Phoenix School of Aviation based in Plaridel town, and student pilots Reena Salve, 25, and Varsha Gopinath, an Indian national.<br \/>Teruel and Gopinath were on board a Cessna-150 with body number RP-C-2679, while Salve was on another Cessna with body number RP-C-8696.<br \/>The planes took off from an airstrip in Barangay Agnaya in Plaridel, less than 30 kilometers from the crash site.<br \/>Bulacan police provincial director Senior Superintendent Asher Dolina said the skies were partly cloudy over Malolos when the crash occurred.<br \/>The ATO\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Aircraft Accident Investigation Board (AAIB) chairman Jose Saplan said based on their initial information, the two airplanes collided in midair while cruising at 500 feet.<br \/>Saplan said one of the planes took off runway 35 from Plaridel airstrip while the other was supposed to land in the same runway after being cleared for landing.<br \/>Witnesses, however, claimed seeing the two airplanes flying alongside each other when their wings grazed before they plunged.<br \/>Residents of Bocaue town also saw the two planes flying too close to each other when it maneuvered towards the airspace over Malolos.<br \/>The crash was the fifth within four years in the province.<br \/>Most of the crashes involved planes owned by aviation schools in Plaridel town, while the others involved Air Force planes and helicopters.<br \/><span style=\"color: rgb(153, 0, 0);\">09\/07\/07 Dino Balabo\/Michael Punongbayan, Cecille Suerte Felipe, AP, AFP\/Philippine Star, Philippines<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Malolos, Bulacan, Philippines: Two light airplanes used in pilot training crashed into a rice field, killing three people in Barangay<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"colormag_page_container_layout":"default_layout","colormag_page_sidebar_layout":"default_layout","_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-188","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/188","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=188"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/188\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=188"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=188"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=188"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
