{"id":1325,"date":"2010-12-03T01:44:56","date_gmt":"2010-12-03T01:44:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/?p=1325"},"modified":"2010-12-03T01:44:56","modified_gmt":"2010-12-03T01:44:56","slug":"government-steps-up-hiring-of-atcs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.indianaviationnews.net\/careers\/2010\/12\/government-steps-up-hiring-of-atcs.html","title":{"rendered":"Government steps up hiring of ATCs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #993366;\">New Delhi\/Mangalore:<\/span> The government seems to have finally taken cognisance of the long-pending shortage of Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) in the country&#8217;s airports and has commenced recruitments to the posts to make air travel safer.<br \/>\n&#8220;We have recruited 338 ATCs and their training is going on. We have also issued an advertisement for another 300 posts and hope to add these in the next 2 months,&#8221; said V Somasundaram , the newly appointed member of the Airports Authority of India (AAI).<br \/>\nIndia has only 1,800 ATCs. There was a requirement of close to 3,000 air traffic controllers in 2008 itself, according to ATC Guild President DS Raghavan . &#8220;Requirements have been increasing for a very long time. Between 2000 and 2005, there were no recruitments .&#8221;<br \/>\nThe government plans to address the shortage by raising the retirement age of ATC from 60 to 65 years.
