Indigo begins talent search as it scales up operations

Hyderabad: Budget airline Indigo plans to increase its fleet strength from the existing 180 to more than 200 by the end of this year, CEO designate Gregory Taylor said here on Saturday.

Besides inducting more aircraft, the carrier is looking to recruit more talent, particularly experts in certain areas, as it gets set to transform into a big organisation, he said, speaking at the Indian School of Business Leadership Summit 2018. “Indigo is a fast growing company… from probably 50-60 aeroplanes two years ago, now we have 180. We will have more than 200 [by] end of the year,” he said.

Describing India as the most exciting market for aviation globally, he drew a comparison with the U.S.

While about 5,000 aeroplanes, in commercial aviation industry, catered to a population of 330 million in the U.S., there were only 500-600 aircraft for 1.3 billion people in India.
