Woman pilot inspired students in Gadchiroli

Nagpur: Mayuri Deshmukh, pilot of Pawan Hans Limited helicopter, who is now part of the anti-naxalite operation at eastern Vidarbha’s Gadchiroli, addressed around 200 girl students of Bhagwantrao Arts and Science High school at Etapalli on Saturday.
The programme was organized to strengthen the morale of the girl students as a part of the central government’s policy of ‘Beti bachao, beti Padhao’ to empower women. Organized by the district police, the programme was conducted to counter the Naxalites’ ongoing activities surrounding their 17th Peoples’ Liberation Guerilla Army week in the district aiming at mobilizing the masses in their ideologies.
Mayuri, who is now posted in Gadchiroli since December 3 early this month, has received her training as a pilot in America. After returning from America in 2009, she was inducted as a pilot in Pawan Hans limited. Her father, Vishwasrao, was a Group Captain in Indian Air Force. Mayuri’s grandfather too was an officer of Indian Police Service (IPS). Her younger sister Radhika too is a pilot with a private airlines. Mayuri, during her so far short stint in Gadchiroli, already participated in some crucial anti-naxal operations.
