Aspiring tribal pilot moves HC for scholarship

Nagpur: An aspiring pilot from Nagpur Flying Club (NFC) has moved the high court against alleged discrimination by the central government in granting scholarships. Wasudeo Tumdam, through his counsel Sandeep Chopde, alleged that Union ministry of tribal development had not included NFC in its list of Clubs for granting scholarship to tribals wanting commercial pilot licence (CPL).
A division bench of justices Bhushan Dharmadhikari and Arun Chaudhari served notices to the respondents, including Union ministry of tribal development, state tribal development secretary, Nagpur divisional commissioner and NFC, asking them to reply before June 24. The petitioner contended that Centre was granting scholarship only to students training in the ten specified flying clubs. He pointed out that seven of them had already closed and remaining were private ones.
