Cochin Airport To Open Engineering School

India’s Cochin International Airport Ltd. (CIAL) in Nedumbassery is about to launch an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering School (AMES).
The school, which will provide education and training in aircraft maintenance and repair, will open Sept. 1. The facility has received mandatory Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) approval. Initially, there will be two classes of 30 students who will study avionics.
“In this stream one has to study electrical, instrumentation and radio navigation pertaining to aircraft,” A.C.K. Nair, airport director and executive director (operations), tells The DAILY. “The entire course is expected to be completed in three years, including six months of on-the-job-training (OJT). The students will be given exposure at the upcoming MRO facility at CIAL.”
CIAL has also signed a pact with Deccan Air Cargo for OJT. DGCA will conduct the exams.
