Job prospects cyclic in aviation

Thiruvananthapuram: Former Chairman and Managing Director of Air India V Thulasidas, who presently heads the Rajiv Gandhi Academy of Aviation Technology (RGAAT) here, admits that there has been a slump in the job prospects in the aviation sector.
He, however, expressed hope that it would revive soon.
“The airline industry is always having a cyclic nature. Already there are positive signs of revival, which would in turn throw open job opportunities,” he told Express.
When Express got in touch with some of the aviation training institutions in the State and enquired about the job potentials, none of them were able to give a convincing reply. Express caught up with a number of students who had passed out from various aviation training institutes across the State over the past two three years and found that many are still jobless. Some of them are even in deep financial crisis owing to the loans availed for their education.
“It may be possible for us to find a job abroad, for which at least a few years of experience in essential. But, there is not even opportunity for unpaid training,” sayid Rajesh Kumar, who had passed out from a prominent aviation training institute in 2009.
