India to give wings to pilot-dreams of more SCs

New Delhi: Keeping in mind the acute shortage of commercial pilots in the country, the Centre has decided to increase the seats for Scheduled Caste applicants, starting this year.
In a decision which will make dreams of becoming pilots come true, for more aspirants of the SC category, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is implementing a scheme of Post Matric Scholarships for SC for studies in India.
Under the scheme there is also provision for providing scholarships for Commercial Pilot License Course (CPL).
The Government of India has decided to enhance the number of awards for Commercial Pilot License Course from 20 to 50 from the current financial year onwards.
